Beyond the friendly events like queer aperitifs, the association maintains clear goals: combating all forms of discrimination, supporting the most vulnerable individuals, preserving the memory of persecution victims, and advocating strong political stances rooted in antifascism, feminism, and anti-racism. This committed vision is carried by a passionate team determined to invigorate the local LGBTQIA+ community in a new way.

From an informal group to an association

Initially launched as a collective in March 2025, the initiative transformed into a full-fledged association by September of the same year. « Given the enthusiasm for our meetings, formalizing our structure as an association became necessary, » say the founding members.

An identity forged through shared experiences

The essence of the association is built on strong values: kindness, respect, tolerance, solidarity, and openness. These principles emerged from shared experiences within another local organization. « Our stories and ideas helped us shape our identity, » explain Loïc, Neal, and Bri, the project’s originators.

Providing truly safe spaces

Regularly organizing gatherings in partner bars and venues, Les Luron·ne·s prioritize the safety of their members. « We approached several queer-friendly establishments, and the response was very positive. This allows us to offer genuinely safe spaces, » say the volunteers.

One memorable evening featured local drag queens, leaving a lasting impression: « The atmosphere was festive and caring, truly a moment of sharing! »

A complementary alternative to existing associations

While Caen already has a vibrant queer ecosystem, Les Luron·ne·s LGBTQIA+ offer a complementary approach. « Our structure addresses a specific community need, offering a unique experience alongside what already exists. We move forward humbly, yet with sincere ambition, » the team emphasizes.

Intergenerational focus at the core of the project

The intergenerational aspect is central to their mission. « Creating bridges between generations is crucial, allowing younger individuals to learn from the experiences of their elders, » the members highlight.

A dedicated role on the board, held by Aline, brings invaluable expertise. Currently, the association unites members aged 21 to 77, fostering enriching exchanges: « During our meetups, everyone shares their experiences, creating a dynamic intergenerational dialogue. »

Constant vigilance against discrimination

The association remains vigilant regarding issues impacting LGBTQIA+ individuals, whether related to gender, sexual orientation, health, or disability. « Our diverse membership, including students, professionals, and retirees, gives us a comprehensive understanding of the realities in Caen, » the volunteers explain.

This vigilance is paired with a clear political stance. Active on social media, the association consistently voices its values and addresses societal challenges.

A festive and activist program

Through active communication on Instagram, email, and phone, Les Luron·ne·s host numerous events to strengthen community bonds. A major event is planned for December 20, featuring Lady Karamel, a Parisian drag queen close to the collective. « All details are available on our Instagram, » the organizers note.

Additional events are slated for 2026, promising more memorable moments to share.

A boldly affirmed pride

The message from Les Luron·ne·s is clear: « We are proud of our differences, and they make us stronger. » The association will join the forthcoming Caen Pride March in 2026, proudly showcasing the colors of diversity.
